Step into the ephemeral world of Alyssa Alikpala.
Working with the earth and the abundance of material found within it, artist, designer and researcher Alyssa Alikpala has created a practice that’s as much a feeling as it is tangible form.
A fan of wheatpaste and grass, natural material and an abundance of space, Alyssa creates moments to be experienced and considered. You don’t simply see her work, you enter it. Audiences are given the chance to ponder, both their place on this planet, the impact we have, and the juxtaposition of materials within her chosen spaces to feel the shared connection among all things as natural objects. In a way, it’s meditative, in another, it stirs the soul.
At SCOPES Toronto, Alyssa will set the tone with a unique piece for all to walk through. Creating a moment of bliss, wonder and intrigue that presents a positive gateway into the festival’s many creative highlights.
