Mira Bergh and Josefin Zachrisson are artists and members of the art and design collective Swedish Girls. Since 2019, they have been collaborating alongside their individual practices, creating a shared artistic context. Based between Stockholm and Milan, Swedish Girls work with objects and installations, adopting a conceptual and experimental approach.
Mira and Josefin presented Another Fountain at the SCOPES festival. Fountains are traditional, recurring elements in public spaces, serving both functional and aesthetic purposes while creating a place for people to gather. In this installation, the fountain takes on a symbolic role, inviting the viewer to explore their relationship with the environment. It is exactly what a fountain is, yet simultaneously everything it is not—a hybrid installation that balances functional, aesthetic, and social values.
With literal references and layers of hidden meanings, Mira and Josefin remain attuned to their surroundings when creating spatial installations. Archetypes have become central to their practice, and the symbolism they employ encourages the audience to engage with their work from a personal perspective.
Swedish Girls was founded in 2019 by Josefin Zachrisson, Mira Bergh, Julia Jondell, and Matilda Ellow.
